Dusan and Laza cross eastern Serbia to Belgrade. Sick and terminally ill, Dusan must find a new home for his son Laza, who has only him.

The hand animated film, based on hundreds of watercolour paintings follows a journey from Germany to the west balkan, coming close to ones own physical, as well as emotional boundaries and roots. Starting points are personal encounters, the uncertain future, the look back into the past, the noticeable fragile present, the uncertain future and the question of parallels, repetitions and developments. Telling from personal perception, not historiography, the film searches for traces and ultimately asks about our future.

After midnight, Lena, scared and fleeing, meets 11-year-old Genti in an underpass in the city centre. After they get to know each other, they talk about the reasons of them being there and their respective head wounds.

Accompanied by her son Zvonimir, Branka is leaving her home. Zvonimir is in a hurry; Branka, however, is not . She would prefer to stay, but Zvonimir is persistent – although at times it seems he is quite unsure of what to do. What they both know is once they reach their destination, things will never be the same.
